Winter events and festivals in Glasgow
Hailed as the world’s largest winter music
festival, Celtic
Connections (19 January - 5 February) kicks off the
new year of events and celebrates the rich culture of Scotland. A
diverse and ambitious programme, there are 250 events on offer from
concerts to jamming gigs, talks and workshops, all crammed into 18
incredible days.
If previous festivals are anything to go by,
the annual Glasgow Film
Festival (16 - 26 February) promises variety,
diversity and surprises in some unconventional settings. Past
venues have included a caravan and a swimming pool! There’s film to
suit all tastes from the classic to the ground-breaking as well as
talks and events.
Always game for a laugh, this city is the
perfect host to the Magners
Glasgow International Comedy Festival (15 March - 1
April) which attracts big names and even bigger crowds year on
year. Comedians already confirmed for this year include Russell
Kane and Sarah Millican.
Look out for events coming up in spring too such as the
Glasgow
International Festival of Visual Art which is
defintely worth staying around for!
