Follow the Malt Whisky Trail
With more than half of Scotland’s distilleries
and a Malt Whisky Trail, it will come as no surprise that Speyside
is a whisky lover’s paradise.
Follow the Malt Whisky
Trail. Along the way you will take in seven working
distilleries, one historic distillery and the fantastic
Speyside
Cooperage. At the Cooperage you can witness the
ancient art of coopering, the making of whisky casks using
traditional methods and tools. You can even have a go at making
your own mini-cask if you are up to the challenge!
You may well be up to the challenge of making
your own but can you imagine living in a whisky barrel? In the
Findhorn Foundation
Ecovillage that is exactly what they have been doing
since 1986. Using whisky barrels built in the 1920s and used in
local distilleries until the 1980s they have built tiny houses only
26 square meters in area. You can’t fail to be surprised by these
innovative ecobuildings.
They say there is a malt for everyone and the
Quaich
Bar at the
Craigellachie Hotel is every whisky lover's dream.
Over 700 different single malts make up one of the largest
selections of drinking malts in the world. Feast your eyes on this
amazing sight, make your whisky selection and enjoy a dram.
