Uncover Fife's galleries and festivals
Celebrate the Year of Creative Scotland in 2012 by taking part
in one of the many fabulous arts festivals that are held in the
region. From the Fife Festival of Music to the Big Stooshie,
Scotland’s charity music festival, there’s a variety of events to
take part in.
Fife hosts a number of renowned arts festivals throughout the
year including the
Fife
Festival of Music,
Big Tent,
St Andrews Festival and the Big Stooshie.
The Fife Festival of Music allows you to experience Fife’s rich
musical talent in venues across the region, whilst the Big Stooshie
is an exciting three-day in-door music festival and features some
of the UK’s most popular bands. Head to the St Andrews Festival
this November for a number of family friendly events and activities
that celebrate traditional Scottish music or the Big Tent in July,
Scotland’s environmental festival.
The unique atmosphere of Pittenweem in the East Neuk has
attracted many artists over the years and every summer, the
picturesque fishing village holds the Pittenweem Arts
Festival. Homes, garages, gardens and studios turn
into fabulous exhibition spaces and welcome thousands of visitors
as they gather to see the authentic work of Fife’s local
artists.
Within the rest of Fife, there is a wide selection of unique and
diverse galleries to discover. The Jerdan
Gallery in Crail is home to a fantastic collection of
work by Scottish artists and artisans, whilst Aberdour is home to
Artis-33, a
magnificent exhibition space that shows a variety of paintings,
prints, ceramics, sculptures and jewellery. If pottery is more your
kind of thing, head back up to Crail and browse a diverse selection
of stoneware and earthenware at the family run
Crail Pottery.
