Learn to ski at the Nevis Range
There are renowned ski centres the world-over
but Scotland is one of the best places to get to grips with the
sport. Beginners even have the opportunity of learning on one of
the highest and most spectacular mountains in Britain!
Get your bags packed and head into the
Scottish Highlands to the Nevis
Range where you can strap on skis for the first time
and learn to glide down the snowy slopes. Whether it’s your first
time or you just want to improve your skills, this range is the
perfect option with over half of the runs suited to beginners.
Your ski experience here begins on the
mountain gondola system, which transports you up the north face of
Aonach Mor, the eighth highest mountain in Britain, in just 15
minutes. Make the most of the short trip and soak up the
spectacular views of the Highlands, including the Great Glen, Ben
Nevis, and on a clear day, all the way out to the Inner
Hebrides.
The beginner’s area is just beside the top
station and there are a variety of easy green and blue runs for you
to gain your confidence and build up your skills. If you’re going
to be standing on skis for the first time, take a lesson from one
of the instructors who can offer specialist lessons which will have
you heading for the tougher slopes in no time.
Or you could try snowshoeing,
which entails trekking through the snow on specially
designed snowshoes. It's easy to pick up and is very
enjoyable.
After a few hours on the slopes, why not enjoy
the panoramic views from the established mountain trails, which
lead you all over the unique habitat of Aonach Mor? Choose from two
easy paths which will let you rest after skiing, as you marvel at
the true magnificence and ruggedness of the Highlands in
winter.
If you are an intermediate skiier or an improving skiier who
wants a bit more of a challenge, why not hit the slopes at the Lecht?
Keep up-to-date with snow
conditions at ski centres across Scotland.
