Enjoy great bird watching in Scotland

Get up close to over 30 birds including kestrels and golden eagles and stroke their soft feathers on a fascinating guided tour at the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre.

Enjoy a fantastic birdwatching trip, armed with binoculars, on the 40 km Bird of Prey Trail around the Trossachs, in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

For a glimpse of our most graceful birds of prey, the red kite, then travel to the Tollie Reserve north of Inverness. Watch from the comfort of a specially converted farm stead as a team of volunteers feed these elegant birds.

During the summer months, head to the Lake of Menteith and Loch Lomond to catch sight of the visiting ospreys. The fantastic David Marshall Lodge in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park has live and recorded CCTV footage of an osprey nest, so don’t miss the drama as it unfolds during the adults’ arrival back from Africa in early April and the chicks’ first flights from the nest.  You’ll also discover many other species of animal there including red squirrels, badgers, hedgehogs, bats as well as red and roe deer in the park.

Exploring the vast tracts of wild terrain around Argyll Forest Park is another excellent place to discover wildlife. Golden eagles are a symbol of the park and can be seen soaring effortlessly overhead. Look out for the majestic red deer, the playful pine martens and the elusive Scottish wildcats. There is also a good chance you could spot otters, capercaillies, ospreys and water voles.
