bottlenose dolphins in the world with a boat trip on

surf the waves around the coast.
The beach below the lighthouse at
Chanonry Point in the Black Isle is one of the best
places to see these playful mammals. Other good spots include off
the Banffshire coast in
Aberdeenshire, out west around Mull, Canna and Skye and
increasingly in the Firth of Forth. So man the decks and keep your
eyes peeled for some of Scotland’s most amazing sea creatures.

mammals like
whales and sharks.
Look out for the massive fins jutting out of
the waves as you gaze out across the water from a Scottish ferry.
It’s a distinct possibility on routes across the Minch to the Outer
Hebrides. Don’t be afraid – it’ll be a basking shark, a harmless
creature which is one the biggest visitors to these waters. Their
numbers have increased in recent years because the waters around
Scotland have been warming and they stop off here before heading to
more tropical oceans in the autumn.
Catch a glimpse of the smallest whale to visit
Scottish waters, the minke whale. It’s an impressive sight when
they breach near the boat. In addition to migratory whales that
summer off Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides, is a pod of
‘orcas’ who are resident around Skye and the Small Isles. Catch
these intelligent hunters of the deep during the summer months.
